Aspects
Trine
Modern readings see trines as ease and natural flow, a support that works best when it is actively used rather than taken for granted.
01
Geometry
A trine connects two points 120° apart, a third of the zodiac, usually in signs of the same element.
02
Traditional doctrine
Lilly wrote that the trine denotes unity, concord and friendship, and Ptolemy counted it as harmonious.
03
Modern meaning
Modern readings see trines as ease and natural flow, a support that works best when it is actively used rather than taken for granted.
04
Aspect orb
An orb is the allowance of degrees within which an aspect is counted; Lilly gave each planet its own radiation, nine degrees for Jupiter. Solunari applies fixed, versioned orbs in its calculation engine, so the same chart always yields the same aspects.
05
Applying and separating
An aspect is applying while the faster body is still moving toward the exact angle. An aspect is separating once the exact angle has passed and the bodies are moving apart. Astrologers commonly treat applying aspects as building and separating aspects as fading.
