Conjunction
Modern astrologers read a conjunction as fusion: two principles act together, for better or worse, and intensify one another.
01
Geometry
A conjunction joins two points at the same zodiac degree: an angular separation of 0°.
02
Traditional doctrine
Lilly judged the conjunction good or difficult according to the planets involved and the matter in question.
03
Modern meaning
Modern astrologers read a conjunction as fusion: two principles act together, for better or worse, and intensify one another. Solunari treats a conjunction as neither supportive nor challenging by itself; the nature of the bodies involved sets its tone.
04
Aspect orb
An orb is the allowance of degrees within which an aspect is counted; Lilly gave each planet its own radiation, nine degrees for Jupiter. Solunari applies fixed, versioned orbs in its calculation engine, so the same chart always yields the same aspects.
05
Applying and separating
An aspect is applying while the faster body is still moving toward the exact angle. An aspect is separating once the exact angle has passed and the bodies are moving apart. Astrologers commonly treat applying aspects as building and separating aspects as fading.
